March 29th, 2011 | M | Bitching and Junkfood News | 1 Comment »

Arf- sayin? So I aint’ been rai’in on the blog for a while innit. Mummy 1(Bitchy Kath) and Mummy 2(Bitchy Marion) was mad busy wiv Urban outfitters and I been distressin denim for a massive order and distressin everyone else too robbin feathers n eatin chicken bones. I was really sick last week innit. I did a vom that looked and smelt like it came from my other end and Mummies thought I was posessed. Then I gave them demon dog white-eye all week like I actually was posessed just to mess with them cause they was under pressure and it was fun to watch them spin out.

Look at me, look at me…..no look at me, look at me, give me attention, look at me, look at me, look at me, I’ll bite ur face innit.

We moved to a new studio. It’s on the street so I can lie in the sunshine all blissed out all day. Mummy 2 was makin trousers all weekend so I came over and sat my bum on her leg. Then she wasn’t givin me nuff attention so I saw my bum on top of what she was makin and started lickin the hammer so she couldn’t bash me wiv it. They all laughed at me and I got loads of attention – bitch knows how to work it, arf.

Last Summer when Mummy 1 went on holidays I realised that I love skateboarding. Mummy 2 brought me for a walk in London Fields and we met a really nice man that had this piece of wood wiv 4 wheels attached. I barked at it cause I thought it was a monster but then he was really nice and he gave me a go on it, all my four staffie paws and I realised I’ve got a natural talent for skateboardin, I like skater boys too cause they have long hair that I can eat and their trainers are stinky.

Mummies are going to be throwing a big party in Urban Outfitters Shoreditch in June, I hope they bring me. I’d luv to chew all the knickers and socks in there and I’m sure there’d be lots of places to bury my bone/dig holes/go mental and do the upside down flippy show where I lie on my back and pretend like I can’t walk any more so they have to drag me along on my lead in front of all the whippet owners who hate Staff’s round here.

Tee hee hee hee – I’m a bold ting.

We’re going dogboarding next week, just like in the video.

I remember having a lecture about Nagi Noda a couple of years ago and I recently came accross her work again. I think its so cool, completely original and so creative! She also does lots of other work including book covers, music video’s, art and design. My favourite is definitely the afro dog, second to last picture…maybe thats because I secretly wish I had afro hair! Hope you enjoy!

Is smoking cool again?

Kate Moss Louis Vuitton smoking

nude smoking

close up smoking

We’ve been seeing a lot of smoking references recently, with Kate Moss dragging on a fag in the Louis Vuitton AW11 show and now Adele on the cover of The Gentlewoman magazine…is it becoming cool again? I personally don’t smoke but I have to admit there is something sexy about a beautiful woman with a cigarette in her hand (in a picture anyway as I cant stand the smell!). Im not sure what to make of this possible trend so I found some nice photographs instead!

Kiss me I’m Irish – I actually am.

March 17th, 2011 | M | Bitching and Junkfood News | 1 Comment »

I never really celebrate Saint Patrick’s day. I’m Irish every day of the year. I get reminded of this daily, everyone just loves to do impressions of my accent, I find it quite endearing. Despite being in London six years I’ve clung onto it for dear life – I quickly learned you get away with murder if you have an Irish accent and a cheeky wink(both of which I believe I posess).

My little homeland’s in a terrible state at the moment. For those of you who don’t know, the economy’s crashed, we almost went bankrupt all because of greedy politicians, land-developers and banks.

At difficult times, culture, creativity, ideas and humour have always scraped us through so I thought I’d do a little post about the good stuff.

THIN LIZZY
My Dad was a massive fan of this Dublin band when I was growing up – I guess my Dad looked a bit Phil Lynnott – all tall gangly skinny with a big afro and a scraggy beard(although he’s white). I remember dancing to a crackly vinyl The Boys are Back in Town with my little sister and it’s still a favorite. Phil Lynnott’s the shizz. His mum lives near our house in Dublin. He died of an overdose but will be remembered for ever

Tunnnneeee!

NATIONAL TREASURE – SHANE MCGOWN.
Legend as much for his music as for the fact that he’s still alive. Roaring alco, amazing musician, serial womaniser(personally don’t get that one, lack of teeth would be a deal breaker for me but look at Pete Doherty……..not even a hot mess).

Singing Dirty Ole Town aka Dublin where I’m from – haven’t got a clue what else he’s sayin either.

FRANCES BACON
A lot of people think he’s an English artist but he was actually born in Dublin 1909. One of my FAVORITE artist of all time for his ability to realise mans relentless inner struggle in paint.

Study after Velazquez’s Pope Innocent X 1953

SINEAD O CONNOR
Mental in the older years, hot, rebellious ball of energy in the younger ones.

Here she is at the Grammys all dressed up in ripped Levi’s,bra top army boots and a skinhead – an original Bitchy girl.

TIM RYAN
Amazing Irish knitwear designer who’s first collection completely sold out at Browns. One day when I save up all my monies I’d like to own one of his pieces.

BEX FLEETWOOD
Totally obsessed with The Model Agency at the moment featuring Elite model management. My friend Dublin born Bex is signed to them and she’s killin it at the moment. Such a sweetie – good people deserve big success.

JW ANDERSON
Northern Irish designer JW Anderson launched his own label in 2007 whilst still at Central Saint Martins.

ARAN JUMPERS
Aran knits are a big vintage trend at the moment with many designers using the traditional pattern as inspiration. Knitwear has a strong history in Ireland I guess cause it’s bloody cold there. The name Aran comes from the Aran Islands on the blustery West coast of Ireland where fishing was the main industry. Aran jumpers are traditionally knit in a coarse undyed wool. The knit itself is a very complicated hand-knit using four needles. There are plenty of myths surrounding the meaning of the stitches but it is generally agreed that many are symbols representing fishing – they were also worn by fishermen for their warmth. The cable stitch is said to represent fisherman’s rope, the diamonds the shape of the fishing net.

Just had a text message from BITCHY Kath that says “Happy St.Patrick’s Day! The Day everyone pretends they’re Irish as an excuse to get pissed :) xx”

So gwan, do it.

The Devil’s in the detail……McQueen AW11

March 14th, 2011 | M | Fashion | No Comments »

HR Geiger’s also in the detail, a nod to the looks that came through on highly memorable SS10 collection. This season sees a much more refined interpretation of the theme simulataneously representing both the soft and the tough elements of femininity. I’d murder someone for a pair of those wedges but apparently they’re not going into production on a lot of the footwear. Big Shame.

Two Weeks on Kat Hessen by Viktor Vauthier for TANK

March 10th, 2011 | M | Press | No Comments »

This has been quite a week, first we see one of our headdress in LOVE magazine and now it seems one of our babies has snook its way onto the head of Kat Hessen in front of Victor Vauthier’s lense for TANK magazine. Seems like we’ve another stellar season ahead of us and there’s still frost on the ground in London. Nice.

I’ve worn these shoes round Mark Fast’s house and our friend Bunny has these sunglasses – I think they’re Charles Anastase for Linda Farrow(that’s what she said anyway).

Amaze eyelashes!

The coolest IPhone app ever by Cassius

March 9th, 2011 | M | Videos | No Comments »

Spot the filler……totally nothing to do with fashion, something to do with lips, a lot to do with stuff I’m into, everything to do with a party I went to at Christmas. I assumed that everyone I knew had seen this but surprisingly they haven’t so for those who haven’t this is possibly THE best iphone application I’ve ever seen – my cousin put me on to it, he has a blog too – he’s involved in Drifting, the motor sport, I’ll update this with his blog when I can actually get in touch with him.

Anyway who needs an egg timer, when you can have an OLE DB mouth. Download now and enjoy hours of endless fun for all the family. Tunes nae too bad neither.

Is lip art the new nail art?

March 7th, 2011 | M | Hair and Make-up | 8 Comments »

When I was a kid I loved dressing up. My mum had this mental 80’s palette of eye-colours and I clearly remember practising that 80’s rainbow eye on my little sister, copied from the pages of Vogue.

I’m really excited by all the colour in hair and make-up at the moment. It’s such a contrast to all the scandi and far eastern inspired minimalism and the big “How to look good Bored” trend.

By now you’ll all have seen Jessie J’s jewel encrusted lips. Artist Paige Thompson takes it to another level painting animals round her mouth represented in various emotional states. Probably not going to be backed by Boots but I can certainly think of at least one persons who’s lips and persona are big enough to fit the bill.

So here’s what we’re thinking….

March 4th, 2011 | M | Bitching and Junkfood News | 2 Comments »

We’ve been really quiet on the blog over the last few weeks. Getting things in place, shooting lookbooks, sorting out our UK and Australian agent for our two labels and working on our Urban Outfitters collabs. We’re also going to be working with a new photographer and stepping things up. This year we’ll be in Vegas and on a massive sourcing trip – can’t wait.

Summer evening, paintbrushes, bottles of beer, few mates and something like this on the outside of our studio…..having started in a big freezing warehouse, moved into a teeny tiny dog kennel of a studio we’re now at the point where we’re putting down roots and we’re happy it’s still in London Fields. We love it there…… Studio warming to follow.

Don’t tell the building’s inspector, I don’t think we’re allowed but that hasn’t really stopped us yet.
