Two Bitches 2010.

January 2nd, 2011 | M | Bitching and Junkfood News | 10 Comments »

I’ve not really blogged over Christmas – like I’ve always said blogging should not be a pressurised thing and I needed to unplug myself for cyberspace – it’s a big black hole you can get lost in. The end of 2010 left both myself and Kath pretty exhuasted. We crammed so much into last year – we’ve always been the girls who can’t say no. More is always more. Bitchy was only one year old at the end of July and year two has been amazing so far. I’ve looked over all of the pictures from our adventures and projects and we’ve had so much fun. Our motto has always been “if it’s not fun, it’s not worth doing” and I’ve had more fun running Bitchy with Kath than I’ve had doing anything else. Jokes, laughs, creation and inspiration every day makes it all worth while.

So here’s some of my pics from last year, a reminder of the fun things we’ve done, people we’ve met, good times we’ve had and little stories to go with them. Some shot by others, some shot by us on our Iphones, just our day to day experiences, people we’ve seen and things we’ve done.

DECEMBER 2009
Netil House
The day we discovered our new studio by London Fields and Tash dancing around in excitement – she’s now working in Hong Kong for Guess, we miss you Tash. xx

14
Myself and Kath at our studio warming – we were sooo happy to be out of our freezing cold warehouse in Hackney Wick.

15
Stylist Miss Jacqueline White and Designer Lindsay McKeane, our studio buddies also at our studio warming – Lindsay’s just had some work done on her lips.

JANUARY 2010
16
Myself and Kath blatantly ignoring the cardinal “don’t stand next to the models” rule. The studio was freezing, we had big parkas and cardis on, she had to wear shorts, price you pay for being skinny and hot!

FEB 2010
17
Miguel Dare who was one of the “models who can act” in our film for our label TWO WEEKS – we are slightly in love with Miguel, they broke the mould when they made him. On a Friday I had a mad idea to shoot a conceptual art fashion film two days later – no models, no director, no hair, no make-up, nothing sorted. When I put my mind to something I make it happen so a few phonecalls later I’d roped in Gabriel Gettman to direct and was pretty much confirming everything else until that morning – nothing is impossible.

18
Kath doing boss lady at our installation in Weknowhatyoudidlastnight’s fashion week pop up showroom where we launched TWO WEEKS.

111
Myself and Kath at the presentation, Kath’s other half Christian with whom we have IT jamms in the background.

110
Toby Summerskill, studio manager and Gabriel Gettman, Director of our film and good friend.

MARCH 2010
115
Shoot for the TWO WEEKS lookbook AW10 – shot and styled by yours truly.

MAY 2010
114
This was the day we delivered our very first collaboration to Urban Outfitters wearing “The Headdress” that pretty much paved the way for a lot we’ve done since. It only launched in May but everyone went mental for it and it sold out everywhere. This was in our friend’s Lynch and Leigh’s multimedia studio. We shot against chroma green because Lynch was going to drop in some pyramids behind us – we’d decided we wanted to go on holidays to Egypt in celebration.

117
Myself and little Suzie Street who started interning with me and we recommended her to our PR where she now works – you can’t let the good ones get away, she’s a bright little spark and we love her. We’re pictured at Rachel Freire’s TG show where I co-produced the show, we also provided visuals with our Film.

118
At the start of May we did a gallery installation at Live Magazine in Future Gallery, Leicester square in London. We were exhibited alongside Rachel Freire and Pam Hogg so we were pretty stoked. Rachel gave me the key to her bike to look after(very stupid idea) but I lost it in the toilets and everyone freaked out – Pam Hogg saved the day when she found it.

JUNE 2010
128
Myself and Kath messing around with sqauro glasses at The Clothes Show London where we had a pop-up shop.

127
We’re very friendly so this means we get a lot of visitors to our studio who just come in the hang out and talk our make us tea which is nice but sometimes we just have to shut the door n spell it out for them. This is one of those moments.

These are two of the worst offenders…..
121
Will from Lynch and Leigh

116
… and Ben Winston, who worked on the set of Jodie Harsh’s circus promo. He looks kinda tired here becuase Gabriel Gettman had worked him into the ground on this 14 hour shoot.

JULY 2010
124
We ran the market beside our studio for a few months over the summer and helped get it off the ground before our deadlines really kicked in and we had to pass it on to someone else. These are our friends Lindsay and Andrew who had earlier brought a tramp to a party – he hadn’t been home yet, we love Andrew.

126
Don’t ask don’t get, I’ve a real problem with bad tea and sorry but PG tips is rubbish so I got in touch with the good people at Thinkhouse PR in Dublin who represent Barry’s Tea and they arranged for a hamper of tea to be sent to us. We were overcome with joy so we took some pictures in celebration and we even were their guest profile picture on their Facebook fanpage. I think this might be my fave picture from last year.

AUGUST 2010
122
Our friend, cheeky charming chappie, Christopher James, Weknowwhatyoudidlastnight.com. He puts on this weird Irish accent I’ve never heard anywhere in Ireland every time I phone him – he’s a loveable rogue.

SEPTEMBER 2010
130
Kath doing a washing experiment whilst sampling for our Urban Outfitters collaboration.

131
On location shooting our SS11 lookbook with photographer Diego Indraccolo and stylist Kay Korsh.

OCTOBER
135
Msyelf, Kath and Kath’s best mate from Australia, Sharn. She wanted to change direction in her career and came over to intern with us. She’s now gone back to Australia and we miss her dearly but she’s joined Bitchy for good and has decided to represent us as our Australian agent whilst developing her own collection. This is us at Shoreditch House Pool Party – we love you Sharn. x

DECEMBER 2010

VOGUE – what a nice way to end a year.

134
Littly doggy and Kath’s baby Pepper – another new addition to the Bitchy crew when she started fashion dogging for us.

All in all it’s been an amazing and totally surreal year. 2011 sees us show our label Two Weeks in the static exhibition at London Fashion Week. We’ve also been taken on by Snow who will be showing our label during Paris Fashion Week alongside big guns PPQ, Pam Hogg and Horace who we’ve actually bought for the online store SS11 . Our Remade label is being rolled out to all Urban Outfitters across Europe and we’ll be launching a capsule menswear collection in their Shoreditch store. I’ll also be getting a little pal for Peps to deprave(bit like the Kath/Marion relationship ;) ).

Our new studio will be finished by the end of January so a big move is on the way. We’ll be doing a lot of travelling as we expand our manufacture overseas and we’ve got some pretty exciting collaborations on the way too.

Big thankyou to all our amazing interns, we’ve tried to hook you guys up with fashion industry jobs where we can and some of your have ended up becoming freelancers with us.

We love all our customers dearly – you guys are crazy brilliant, you believe in the things our old jobs told us were too “quirky”, not commercial and that inspires us to push things that little bit more.

We take pictures of everything that inspires us on our Iphones so let’s start 2011 by saying

132

Love Living – we do, do you?

XXX BITCHY LOVE TO Y’ALL

ps thankyou Christopher for letting me rob some pictures from your wonderful site, I didn’t ask u but thanks anyway.

So i stumbled on your blog and to my suprise i saw an old face from my school day.

okay so this will seem like a very odd msg.. and i don’t know if you will read it… but do you know Ben Winston personally?

Just i went to school with him when we were 16 we were pretty close ( as much as you can be at school age)… and then sadly lost contact… if you do know him.. could you please pass him my email. I would love to know how he is doing :-)

    thanks
