Gitte Lee in Italian Vogue shot by Tim Walker

One of the joys of being stranded in Paris airport for ten hours(as we were last week due to snow) is that you don’t feel so guilty about spending an arm(only spent one the other one’s broken) and a leg on fashion magazines. Amongst our supermarket sweep was Italian Vogue.

This shoot featuring Gitte Lee was our favorite. Gitte has been modelling for the last 50 years and was recently featured in a Celine ad. Fashion is so focussed on youth that it was only a matter of time before the cameras turned to the older generation – it’s easy to look hot when you’re young but it gets a little harder as the years go by so kudos to Gitte she’s on fire! Older models should be celebrated and these women give us all something to aspire to. The young model in this shoot pales by comparison – Gitte looks both statuesque and elegant, her eyes and face full of character. The styling is fab, reminiscent of some of the Belle Epoque shapes I’ve been picking up on recently – I’m loving any kind of fur trim. Black and gold’s always a winner.

Whilst googling this I also stumbled upon a great blog called Advanced Style that celebrates “silver haired” street style.
