Mr. + Mr. – I need a hero.

Remember when boys were boys and girls were girls? No me neither, I think it was some time in ‘97, then we all got caught up in adrogyny – I’m as guilty as the next fella, girl? fella? I’m confused.
On the Parisian catwalks we’ve seen a definite return to feminine shapes and silhouettes with cleavage making a come-back at Vuitton and full skirts at Prada. Stepford wives seems to be trending strong – personally I’m feeling more Deptford. In the post feminist era is the battle of the sexes dying a death and is fashion reflecting a return to more traditional roles – perhaps(this scentence was not an intentional O level essay, it just came out that way) So what’s the equivalent in menswear? Boys that look like geezers, the man from milk tray?
It’s this aesthetic that’s inspiring Mr. + Mr. Sick and tired of skinny indie Mr. + Mr.’s collection focussed on action figures, clothing hair and make-up styled to reflect plastic perfection, silhouettes cut to accomodate and accentuate muslces.

Growing up I always like boys in baggie jeans, I was more into hip-hop and techno than rock. I liked skate and snowboard fashion. Maybe my current obsession with hoods taps into that. Actually we designed the ultimate pair of trackie bottoms in our own collection so am I sliding away from skinny? Perhaps. I’ve seen a looser silhouette creeping back in several collections – William Rast, Jeremy Scott as well as numerous editorials recently.
Thing is, if a boy’s built like a brick shit-house, then skinny’s just no going to look good no matter how on trend it is and fashion’s been ignoring buff over the last few seasons.

Mr + Mr designed a very slick kind of baggy, no room for tumbling off skateboards here(possibility of falling two flights to roll, gun in hand) – you might just scuff your leathers and that’s not a good look where this collection’s concerned.
I’ve had the honour of an evening in the closet with Mr + Mr and an upclose inspection of the collection. With leather, premium rabbit and cashmere this collection is luxury at it’s best. The pieces are designed to created super-slick impact with minimal effort – real men don’t do zips and fastenings, they’re too busy saving the world - the sharp grey polo and pants about is actually a jumpsuit.
Accessories whore that I am, I love the gloves and the scarf. Would also like to request a Rabbit Skin onesie for Sundays. Can you make us a hero too?
Now where’s my Victoria Sponge recipe.

This would have felt a whole lot more masculine without the ‘nude’ coloured lips
yeah but the hair and make-up has been styled to look plastic – action man didn’t wear lipstick?
Ha haaa! True very true.
Baggy trousers forever!
