Baby, it’s cold outside-even in California.

When I moved to the city of Angels more than three years ago, I had obviously been decipted by Albert Hammond and his lies that it never rains in California. I arrived to the Sunshine state with 17 pairs of different coloured Havaianas, five pairs of shorts, some vest tops, a few short dresses and maybe a pair of jeans or two. The rest of my wardrobe was to follow as soon as our visas were sorted and was until then to be held in some sort of customs/storage with other illegal immigrant garments.

During the first week the weather was beautiful! I mean truly beautiful. 30 Degrees, in mid November! Despite my Viking genes my optimal temperature is somewhere around 25-30 and I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

Unfortuantelly I think the White Witch boarded a Non-Stop flight to LA just the week after. Winter promptly arrived, and even though California winters are no where near the winters you experience in the UK or in Sweden, they definitely require more than a pair of flip flops and a t-shirt. Temperatures rapidly dropped below my habitual 25 and was seen as low as 8! Once that year it even snowed in Malibu (The snow stayed just about as long that it took for a few Malibu locals to take a picture.). Since our Visas took way longer than expected I desperately tried to layer my t-shirts, in vain of course, to prevent nipple frostbites.

Winter has once again arrived. And despite the (mainly) clear blue skies it is time for warmer clothing. Every now and then I even don a pair of gloves..although the guys in shorts tend to laugh at me.

At a Royksopp concert the other day I spotted the perfect solution for California cold. REALLY thick jumpers. Remember a version of them back in the 80’s? That reversable sweater more often than not printed with a Disney character? With a look of a jumper but the isolation of a michelin man suit it will keep you warm enough without feeling malplace next  to the surf dudes. The Mickey Mouse print has been replaced with beautiful 3D details, fabric tassles and gorgeous shoulder shapes.

Jeremy Scott did an awsome version a few seasons ago. It is unfortunatelly long gone from the shop shelves but might still circulate somewhere on the net. It was, and is, truly wicked…and warm!

Until next time…Keep cool, Stay warm.
