The Guinness Book of Records – Daphne Guinness

I should never have doubted her. She will always crash through any sartorial records yet to be broken. The sole two pairs of shoes from this year’s catwalks that I dubbed ‘Most Likely To Never Be Worn By Anyone But Rather Ogled Behind Glass’, Need-I-Say-More Daphne Guinness plucked them up and walked all over us in them. And before you drop Gaga’s ‘Bad Romancing’ name, remember that wearing these in real life situations trumps music videos any and every day.

No big deal.

    Oh Daphne…

You used to be so much better than this.

I was actually going to post about these myself. Hoof, not sure. What’s next camel toe? Although there’s part of me that says why not? Why can’t we all go to the local Tesco dressed just like this?

I cudnt get over the nina riccis for some time so i had to get it out of my system. madly in love with them and wishing i cud own the purple version…even if only for a mantel piece in my apartment.

  4. Disgruntled, Belfast said at 5:50 pm on November 25th, 2009:

My objection is that it’s all too contrived.

The almost unanimous verdict on these shoes was, as you pointed out, “Most Likely To Never Be Worn By Anyone But Rather Ogled Behind Glass”. It’s almost as though Ms. Guinness has viewed this as some sort of challenge. The fact she is now being mentioned in the same breath as Ms. Gaga only cements her demise from Couture champion to out-and-out sartorial shock-jock.

The reason we can’t all pop down to our local Tesco dressed like that is purely due to the vast level of person insurance one would have to obtain…

Lol Christopher, I’m sure Daphers could afford the insurance. I agree re Gaga tho, I kind of detest her but I fear I’m actually going to have to feature her in a blog post as she(or her team of super-stylists) is driving some pretty extreme fashion trends that need to be commented on.

By all means, Daphne somehow pulls them off! It is what she does for crying out load! Pulls things off. It would be a sad world if these babies never set foot outside a catwalk stage.

I agree with Jenny- while the average joe would look like a mental patient on a day out, I’m glad she had the balls to bring them into our real world.

Oh. You must feature la Gaga!

No one can wear Jean-Charles de Castelbajac quite like Gaga…

    Wow…
Both pairs are Amazing (yes Amazing does start with a capital in this case)
