Hackney Wicked Art Festival, Blood Sweat and Tears Pop-up SAT
July 30th, 2009 | M | Bitching and Junkfood News | 2 Comments »For those who don’t already know about it, this weekend you should be visiting Hackney Wick. This is where all the artists moved to from Hoxton when the went went through the roof and the city boys moved in. It’s been compared to the warehouse district in NY in the 80’s. This is where BITCHY HQ is too.
Useless information……apparently Hackney Wick has the highest concentration of artists studios in the world.
We all live here and work here, it’s like a holiday village. Everyone says hello to each other on the street even if they’ve never met before. I’ve learned so much living here, if I can’t do or make something there’s always someone who’ll help out or point me in the right direction. There’s no art wankiness or pretension, it’s great.
As part I’ve the festival I’m collaboration with several others from the area and will be hosting my first pop-up BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS showcasing some of my new pieces as well as a LTD Edition run of T-shirts, collaboration between BITCHY and Ornamental Conifer a local shit hot artist, currently rebranding Bistrotheque one of my fave restaurants, clever boy!
Store will also feature work by well known writer Stik, MR + MR range by local stylist Graham Cruz and creative partner in crime Eoin Dillon, Ware Jewellery and Mel clothing and Jewellery.
Having slight mare as this was supposed to be outdoors and it’s going to be torrential all weekend apparently. So might be moving indoors to some art studios – will be signage from Wick station wherever we end up, most likely to be indoors with some of the best artists Wick has to offer. My friends will also be closing a whole street for the “O-Fish-Al” wick street party.
Interesting evening ahead. I’m being interviewed by somebody making a documentary on alternative lifestyles and artists,creatives(eye-roll) living in anarchist communities. I’m not a anarchist despite the boots above.

STIK
Might even chuck in some of my paintings for good measure.
