Lydia Garnett for Bitching and Junkfood

February 26th, 2014 | Chloe | Lookbook, Photography, Videos | No Comments »
As designers, it’s important to be surrounded by strong teams who just “get you”. We’ve worked with London Photgrapher Lydia Garnett on several projects and she’s our go to for laid back, fuss free stories that just happen to feature our stuff. Graduating with a degree in Photography, she;s widely recognised for her stripped-back, honest portraiture. The one woman power-house runs online quarterly Accent Magazine and has produced editorials for a range of leading publications and brands including i-D Magazine, Dazed Digital and Hypebeast. For SS14 she hit the streets of NYC as the sun set to bring our new collection to life. Themed around an effortlessly cool tomboy (in the form of the beautiful Michelle Wilson) kicking around Manhattan, she shot on 35mm film to achieve her signature grainy effect. Whilst there she hooked up with the Wenck Brothers who documented the shoot with a short film, which you can view below together with a selection of shots from the NYC shoot.

Ahead of the release of our SS14 Collection, we caught up with Lydia and got her to answer some burning questions.

What’s the best thing about being a photographer?
Every week is different to the next.
What’s the worst thing about being a photographer?
I can’t think of anything that is that bad…
If you hadn’t been a photographer what other career would you have chosen?
Dog walker.
Where do you really want to visit?
New Orleans for the craic.

BitchingandJunkfood X L.A Bitches

On our recent to trip the states we hooked up with our girls on the ground Madeline Pendleton and her MUA side-kick Kali Kennedy. When in Rome shoot the romans so we reached out to photographer Nikko La Mere and hit the streets of K Town.

Madeline Pendleton, Alanna Pearl, Robynthebank, Jessi Jae Joplin and Feral Creature modelled, myself and Kath running things.

AW13 builds on our cut n paste aesthetic with our prints referencing Jamaican Dancehall, Baroque architecture and Yen notes with crushed velvet and denim. It seemed fitting that we’d have a cut and paste group of girls come together to model it – we didn’t get too involved with the styling, we let them run the show with their own distinct look.

Round 1 of the collection is live now so
